The Existing Home Sales report for July, which measures closings in July and likely represents buyers shopping for homes in May and June, increased 2.5%. There was a positive revision to June, and when factoring that in, sales were really up 2.8%. Sales are now up 0.6% year over year, which is first annual increase in 17 months.
